LUXURY GAME LODGE

The Requirements:
At this luxury game lodge, the owner required complete peace of mind in the event of a grid failure as well as cost saving seeing that it can be a power hungry exercise to keep all the guests cool under the hot Namibian sun.

The Solution:
A Grid-Interactive / Off-Grid system was found to be the most efficient and cost-effective solution for the lodge. The total size of the system is 120kVA which allows the lodge to function practically completely independently from the grid. The system is still connected to the grid in order to feed-in all excess power generated back into the grid. The system is designed to continue utilising power from the grid-tie inverters, even in the event of a grid failure.

The Requirements:
The company required a high return on available capital whilst at the same time reducing the operational expenditures to ensure a higher level of sustainability for the business.

The Solution:
Given the ever-increasing cost of electricity as well as the fact that the power from the sun is free, a CIGS Grid-Tie solar PV system was decided upon, on the basis that it offered the best ROI and relatively low risk, given that the system is properly designed installed and maintained. The client can expect a return on investment of 770% to 790% over the project life of 25 years (Discounted ROI, 125% to 140%).

AGRICULTURAL / GAME FARM

The Requirements:
The owner required reliability of supply whilst reducing the cost of electricity. One of the key aspect of the requirements was scalability, thus a phased approach could be accommodated.

The Solution:
A Grid-tie system was installed as part of the first phase of building towards a fully off grid system. The system boasts sophisticated monitoring equipment allowing for detailed data monitoring on the electricity usage and patterns of use which, in turn, is utilised to refine the design and optimise the battery storage. The next phase of the project will be the addition of battery back-up and inverter charger systems.

COMMERCIAL BUILDING

The Requirements:
In order to expand and grow the business the client needed access to additional power which the municipality could not offer. The solution had to integrate with their current infrastructure which consisted of a large UPS and back-up generator.

The Solution
A Grid-Tie PV system was found to be the most ideal solution given the fact that production profile of the PV system fitted well into the power usage profile of the company. The system generates approximately 117MWh per year and offers a high return on capital and at the same time reduces the operational expenditure of the company.

FUEL STATION

The Requirements
A system was required that would save power cost and deliver optimal return on investment. A key requirement was that the design, equipment used as well as the installation complied with the stringent rules and regulations of the fuel industry insuring the safety of the staff and the customers.

The Solution
A fully compliant Grid-Tie system was designed and installed at the fuel station forecourt. OmniTech designed the system specifically in compliance with Health and Safety requirements for a site of this nature. The total size of the system is 40kWp which generates on average 210kWh per day and off-sets approximately 35% of the client's total electricity consumption per day.

RESIDENTIAL

The Requirement:
The client wanted to be independent from the municipal power grid as well as maintain their current lifestyle whilst at the same time ensuring a cleaner and greener future for all.

The Solution:
Large Residential Hybrid / Off-Grid System was designed and installed. Total size of the system is 15kWp which generates on average 80 kWh per day and offsets approximately 100% of the client's total electricity consumption per day. The system has the capability to function completely off-grid as well as feed power back into the grid.
